It’s Your Story: Napier Funeral Home has served for over 140 years | News

Napier Funeral Home and its predecessor have served the historic mill community of Graniteville and the surrounding area for more than 140 years.
Founded in 1879, the business was located in a building that had a furniture store on the first floor and a funeral home upstairs.
The funeral home’s managers and directors over the decades included Sammie Napier, a Graniteville native who is known for his compassion for grieving families.
His association with the business began when he was a young boy. He swept floors, dug graves and helped delivered furniture before moving into a leadership role and becoming a local icon.
In 1994, Sammie and his wife, Glenda, purchased the establishment, which had become a community fixture, and renamed it Napier Funeral Home.
Four years later, Glenda left her positions as a bank branch manager and vice president to help Sammie run the business.
They have worked with many families to help them make arrangements for their loved ones.
Sammie is Napier Funeral Home’s president, and Glenda is its vice president.
In March 2022, Clint Jackson became the funeral home’s manager and is continuing its tradition of caring and providing comfort to the bereaved.
Clint is a 2008 graduate of Midland Valley High School and a 2014 graduate of the South Carolina College Of Funeral Service at Piedmont Tech in Greenwood.
He has a degree in applied science with a major in mortuary science.
Clint is a licensed funeral director and embalmer in South Carolina and Georgia.
