Welcome To The Beach Sign Makeover

You know, there are just these initiatives that give you a heck of a time. You know the ones.
This was a person of those people kinds! lol
I indicate, how? It is these kinds of a very simple task but hey, that is how it goes at times.

Welcome to the Seashore Sign

But very first, let me remind you that this is 1 from my most recent haul…

Here’s how this signal started…

I cleaned it up, frivolously sanded it, and then spray painted it with primer and then white flat spray paint.
I basically did it a even though again then obtained trapped on what kind of indication I wanted to make so it sat for a bit painted.

So I imagined I’d just transfer my graphic onto the painted board working with carbon paper and then hand paint it in. So uncomplicated!

Right?

Yep, for confident, just glimpse how properly that transferred.

Painting in that compact print on the bottom, not so much. And no, I didn’t get a photograph of it mainly because I straight away understood hand portray
was not heading to perform.
It appeared like a 5-12 months-previous was portray it! haha
It is SO considerably less difficult to paint script than the correctly straight style font like above.

In any case, so I sprayed it once more with white paint to cover that up and permit it sit overnight.

So the very first test was a bust. Let us go with the Silhouette and slice out a stencil rather. Sure!

I experienced some white vinyl so grabbed that and reduce it out.
Attached it to the painted board and then painted in the “stencil” I cut with black paint.

Yippee!! Pretty much performed!!

Ha…nope.

I pulled off the white vinyl and then bunches of the white paint from the board alongside with it. Boo!
You know I was about completely ready to throw in the towel…but hold out, there’s a lot more. (haha)

No, I did not just take a photograph of it, I just scrapped the vinyl and promptly went to operate on correcting it…again.
This time I sanded the wood all the way down…painted a coat of my Extremely Grip, and let it dry right away right before portray.

Then I used some of my white paint (as a substitute of dumb ole spray paint) to paint the board this time, 2 coats.

At the time it was extremely dry, I slice out one more piece of vinyl. But just just before I connected it to the board I freaked out and thought, no, the white vinyl is quite sticky. (even just after I attempted to unsticky it a bit) It is heading to pull the paint all over again, I just know it! (I really don’t believe it would have this time actually but I was gunshy)

So, I slash it out all over again utilizing Get in touch with paper because that stuff is not in close proximity to as sticky as my vinyl.

I attached it to my board …

Built guaranteed it was pressed down very properly all in excess of and rolled my black paint again.

Yay, practically finished, all over again!

Until…

Noooooo. Ugh.

That is the reason I really do not use call paper often. It’s bleedy due to the fact it’s not all that sticky.
Darn it.

Effectively, we are rolling with this one, I’m just heading to have to hand paint white all around those letters to get rid of the bleedy places.

So which is what I did.

And now it’s done…

Whew! That was a job. lol

I guess you are asking yourself about the sign, huh?
Yep, we have resolved to dip our toes into leasing out our apartment. We are heading to rent to shut close friends and spouse and children to start with and see what we consider.
We may possibly open up it up to other folks soon after that. Infant methods, y’all. 🙂
