Marinette County approves funds to support City of Marinette Airboat after reconsideration
Past thirty day period the Marinette County Board of supervisors authorized contributing $43,900 to the Town of Marinette toward the acquire of a new 24 ft research and rescue airboat with the caveat that the county be equipped to use the airboat. Even so, at yesterday’s County Board meeting a movement was brought forth by Supervisor Allen to reconsider action taken by the County board to transfer the $43,900 to the City of Marinette for purchase of the Airboat. Given that the City of Marinette has recently allocated $500 for each worker for COVID-19 vaccinations making use of ARPA funds when they could have utilised their ARPA money in the direction of the funding of the airboat as a substitute of inquiring the County for funding. County Administrator John Lefebvre says, “the City of Marinette received $1.1 million in ARPA funding.”
Supervisor Ken Keller suggests, “there is a rationale why the metropolis is searching for participation in the buying of the airboat.”
Soon after a prolonged dialogue, the board voted, and it came in at 14 in favor of the airboat to 13 not in favor. The expected delivery day of the airboat is mid-January.
