One of the building company’s latest outdoor renovation challenges occurred in the award-winning beach and golf club community of Miromar Lakes.

“The owners of a beautiful lake-front home weren’t happy with the view they were getting of the large lake from the inside of their home, or for that matter, the outside of their home while on their pool deck,” said Matt Shull, Gulfshore Homes’ Director of Construction. “It was our task to change that, and what a change it turned out to be.”

According to Shull, a number of accent columns, dispersed throughout the deck area, were eliminated, and the pool cage, with wide framing and short screen panels were replaced with a new cage that framed the view, rather than hide it.”

“The more modern pool cage features larger screens,” Shull recalled. “You can compare them to having a large picture window in your living room. It really opens things up.”

In addition to removing the columns and replacing the cage, the tall plants around the pool, both inside and outside the screen enclosure, had to be removed.

“The house is right on the lake. If you have tall plants surrounding your pool and the perimeter of the cage itself, you’re actually blocking the view,” noted Shull. “The owner’s paid a premium for their home’s waterfront location and they deserve an uninterrupted view of it.”

Other elements of the renovation project included designing and building a new, larger pool with elevated spa, replacing the deck with large format pavers and adding LED lighting throughout the pool and outdoor living area.

“The final result is the creation of a more effective outdoor living area that enhances the lake view rather than conceals it,” stated Shull. “The outdoor living area is also much lighter and brighter. And that’s the Florida lifestyle in a nutshell.”
