Good day dear readers (if there are any visitors left)! What occurred to running a blog? If only I knew. I have shed a bit my mojo I think. Also this digital lifetime has come to be rather draining – I form of experience it more and more just after virtually three several years of freelancing and primarily operating by myself from home. Never get me completely wrong, I am content, I like what I do. But from time to time I really feel like it is also repetitive, it is too superficial, it is irrelevant, unexciting – did I mention repetitive? Nicely even the terms here grow to be recurring.

Often I wallow in memories and uncover it all rather astonishing. Not numerous of you will know, but I researched global company administration and economics and when I was a student social media was not a matter nonetheless. I imagine it was the early ages of some student networks these kinds of as early Facebook and some German counterparts that I understood as somebody residing and learning in Austria. Imagining a specialist vocation in the electronic earth or additional specifically in the sphere of social media was just unimaginable. And yet here I am, total time influencer. Oh how I despise the word. I seriously do. Influencer? As if I am sitting down at house and creating conspiratorial programs on how to affect and seduce you. You know, like get this, get that, increase more crops (ok responsible for the latter at the very least).

I have consciously picked out this ‘career’ path. Do you see how I set the word occupation in quotation marks? Yup, due to the fact I frequently want to encourage myself that this is my occupation now. That this IS a task at all. But I marvel: Is it genuinely a work? Or am I just fortunate to be using the electronic wave and acquiring located my niche to make my dwelling with it? I at times are likely to forget the path that led me to wherever I am right now. Many years and decades of non halt blogging (sure back then I blogged six instances a week) and continual networking on Twitter (these ended up the decades). And all of this I did for many years in a row when also obtaining a complete time work in PR and advertising and marketing organizations (with all the glamour of piling surplus hrs and shoddy spend). All those have been days wherever I would commence operating at 9 am and complete at household at one particular or two am. Going to mattress, waking up, and carrying out all of it yet again the future working day. For a long time and decades. And then I slowly managed to develop my weblog, my social media existence, create a neighborhood of plant enthusiasts, write one book , then another, operate on style and styling jobs, give lectures, host classes and so on. And now I am a freelancer. Complete time ‘influencer’. Comprehensive time doing the job from house. Whole time asking yourself if this is seriously pertinent and satisfying. Tons of whole below. Repetitive and recurring.

I just reread my previous paragraph and I do get the plan that this could audio a bit detrimental or disillusioned. But neither is accurate to be straightforward. I am pleased, I like what I do, I just surprise if this is what I want to do for the subsequent several years to arrive. I wrote textbooks. I did style tasks. I labored as a speaker and study course host. So what is upcoming? I do not know myself but I want a thing new to appear on the horizon. Something that would challenge me yet again and really encourage my creative imagination and information. Strike me up if you have suggestions:-)

In the meantime rest confident that I am happily sharing what conjures up me and what keeps me going creatively – largely on Instagram (and yes, I favor the time period inspirator in excess of influencer). But I want to be way more energetic here on the blog way too from now on (many thanks Holly from Decor8 for consistently reminding me of running a blog). It previously feels extra substantial producing a for a longer period text than just a number of lines of an IG caption. And whether or not any individual is looking through this – it will be out there riding the electronic wave and whoever surfs by, appreciate the journey and the read!
