Ukrainian architecture firm Makhno Studio have designed a 3D-printed settlement for Mars. The Plan C project will encircle the edge of a crater and provide comfortable sustainable living for settlers on a new planet. Its outer walls will protect residents from the harsh atmospheric and weather conditions while inside will be public halls, dining, research stations, sleeping quarters, and leisure facilities. A plant-filled central hall aims to replicate the conditions of Earth’s green, open spaces and provide residents with fresh and clean air. Meanwhile, fruit and vegetables will be grown in spherical greenhouses fitted with Phyto-lamps and designed to look like small planets. Although the living quarters will be necessarily sparse a ceiling that is equipped with a screen will allow residents to watch films, or take in ambient sights that remind them of our home planet.
