Stained Coffee Table & An Update!
[ad_1]
This 3rd times the charm, stained coffee table is a favorite…but sometimes still time for a change!
Hello sweet friends!
I thought I’d revisit an old makeover that I just love! One of my favorites actually.
This coastal-style coffee table makeover…
…that was how it started.
Do you remember it?
I’m sharing it because I’ve decided to change it out for an ottoman. (scroll down to see it)
I am ready for a little change-up.
Stained Coffee Table
But first, let’s have a little refresh of this table.
I decided to remove the finish from the top and refinish it so I wouldn’t paint over those pretty inlays.
This was an old bottle of Citristrip when it actually used to work really well.
I don’t use it anymore. They changed the formula and it just does not do the job the way it used to.
(read more about my assessment of that in the post, here)
Anyway, off came that finish to reveal that gorgeous wood underneath.
I thought I wanted to stain it this color… (water-based stain)
NOPE! I quickly wiped that back off.
Then I thought I’d whitewash it…
Nope! Ha! I didn’t like that either. Off came that as well.
I let it dry overnight and decided to go with oil-based stain instead.
I used a pre-stain first, then Antique Walnut, wiping back well, then Classic Gray over that, also wiping back.
And WOW, it came out the perfect shade!
I painted the base white with a bit of distressing.

And this is how this beauty looks now.
I could not have been more pleased! I just love this table.
Gosh, now I feel like I don’t want to change it or let it go!! lol
I may have to store it while I play around with this new piece for a while.
Here is the new piece we’ll be using in here for the time being.
It opens up and can be used for storage, which is nice.
You can find it here.
It is supposed to be here next Thursday. I’ll be sure to share it when it comes in! Keep an eye out over on Instagram too.
In other news, I had a special visitor today! (Weds) Christy from Confessions of a Serial DIYer!! Woohoo!
We hadn’t seen each other in over 2 years and that’s just way too long! We didn’t do a video or any thrift shopping. Just a nice visit and lunch to catch up. But I did get a cute video of her arriving at my house.
And we snapped this photo before she left.
Best buddies! And blogging friends for a long time now. We have promised to not let that much time go by again. And we’ll be doing some more things together in the future for the blogs. Stay tuned!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and a safe holiday!
xoxo
